This training course is designed to provide learners with a good basic understanding of how to use the CARIS S-57 Composer version 2.2.1 software product to create and update International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs). CARIS S-57 Composer, or Composer for short, is a new interactive desktop editor software program which is used to create, edit, validate, manage and update electronic chart products.
This course looks at using Composer to create Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs).

The IHO S-57 Standard is the standard for digital hydrographic data exchange, which is used for the exchange of digital hydrographic data between national hydrographic offices and for its distribution to manufacturers, mariners and other data users. S-57 is the Standard used by official Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) products. The S-57 Standard was defined as a civilian standard for creating electronic charts for commercial navigational purposes. IHO website - click here.
